Hi all. I've been lurking for a few months now and I figured it was time to say thanks to everyone. The $$$ I've saved far outweighs the subscription fee :-laf

I would post a pic of my truck but I can't re-size the damn things. So far I've done the KDP(2 loose cam bolts and the dowel moved out about 1/4"), got rid of that crappy ABS,learned to modify and rebuild my inj. pump, swapped turbo's and exaust housing and just today swapped in some 00' 2nd gen power seats. It's funny but out of all that I was more nervous about swapping seats than anything else. I figured they'd be a pain in the ***. I looked for awhile but couldn't find any good clear pics of others so I figured I'd just do it. Came out real nice. I mated the seats(took off the 2nd gen mounts) with the 1st gen seat mounts, looks factory. I also took the rear seat cup holder off and turned it around so it's now under the center seat and faces forward, so now I have a place to keep my coffee besides all over my lap( I'm most happy with this mod :-laf ) If anybody needs any pics, I took a few good close ups. I will email them to you since i cant post them. This forum is great, I even ran into another TDR member up here in Calgary Canada. Anyways sorry about the long post. Thanks everyone.

Let me be the second to say... Welcome to the TDR!!!! There is a way to downsize your pics, but being the computer illiterate fool I am, I'll let someone else talk you through it ! :D

OK thanks to another great TDR member(thanks Klaybus) My few pics of my seat swap have been resized. Hopfully a few of my truck to come.

That seat mod is really nice... I gotta find me one of those. It looks like you kept fore/aft the adjustment of the 2nd gen seat, and attached to the 1st gen base with some box tube? Did you notch the bases for the front tubes? It looks like the rear tubes are just on top of the bases? The center section is on four short verticals, same box tube... did you have to build any more framing for the center, or just weld existing framing to the vertical box? The cup holder is genius...

Sorry for all the questions... I'm sure it would be more obvious if I had the two layed out ready to mod... but your solution looks so clean. I sure wish my truck would come to the top of the priority list... . so many projects...

Thanks,

John

Hi. Thanks. I kept all the adjustments, drivers side is power. I notched the the 1st gen bases about an inch so I was happy with the reach for the clutch. The rear are on top and the center is just welded to the vertical tubes and then welded to the sub frame. I'm a pressure welder by trade so I try to solve every problem with welding LOL, my friends always make fun of me for it. I'll post a couple more for ya.

Nice truck and welcome! I'm going to do a seat swap soon too but I'll have to see what's available up here first!

Is that your off roader in the pic too? Looks fun! :D

Thanks . Ya thats one of my other toys. You can't see my plate too well but it says ILUVBUSH... . lol And no i don't mean your "president" kiind of bush. hehe

Welcome to the forum. Always good to get new blood. After three years, I have seen or gotten directly the answer to all the problems that my trucks can come up with. May have even helped a couple of guys. Don't know what you might find in the other forums but the guys here are 'my kind of folks' and they sure know about first gens.

Edit your information to show where you live. Not that it matters greatly, there doesn't seem to be any dividing lines with this group but I always wonder where folks are from.

Essler, a big warm Welcome to you. Look around and enjoy. Ask away when you will. :)

BTW, nice job on the seat conversion.

Great looking truck! Half of mine has the same color scheme. :-laf :-laf

Seat conversion looks good! Man I wish I could weld! I am a nut and bolt guy myself, but one of these days I am going to have to learn the easy way to do things. :D

A twin

Hey Essler:

Your truck is a twin to mine... ... ... ... ..... sort of.

I don't know how to repost a pic(the system says I already the pick posted) so you will have to view my pics.

Nice truck and thanks for the pms on the seat install.

Welcome to this goofy place. Glad you're happy with what you've found. Even happier that you're willing to share what you've learned. Nice job on the seats; I love the cup holder.

Regards, DBF
