Well question is for a friend of mine. He bought a new 03 back in April and is at the point of getting new tires (yeah he put a chip on it and hauls a bunch of hey) Anyways he is ready for new tires and the guys here said that the only tire to fit the 17 incers in a dully are the Goodyears that came on there and they want over 1G for all 6, somehting about how anyothers will rub in the duals (hes not looking for bigger tires just new ones). I cant see how that is right and neather can he becuse I saw a 3rd Gen dully with some kind of MTs only saw from behind didnt get a look at the sike or brand. But are question is, is there anyone out there that has new tires on there dully that didnt go with the goodyears that where on there and what size are yall runnig.

Thanks

I just got back from the SEMA show in Vegas and I didn't see any new offerings for the 17x6 rim which Dodge stuck us with.

Had I known that only one manufacturer made tires for this truck I would have never traded my 2001 Ram for the 2003. I thought I had done my homework when buying my '03, but who would have ever thought that Dodge would put their Heavy Duty Truck owners in such a precarious position. I understand that the Goodyear GSA and SRA tires which fit the dualie are not stocked at the majority of tire retailers and that they have often been very difficult to locate. This is completely unsatisfactory for a vehicle which is used by so many for long hauls.

Talked with retailer the other day...

and I asked him about the 17" tires on the Dodge Duallys as I am interested in trading. He said that currently Goodyear is the only tire, but he expected other manufactures to jump in and have offerings soon. He said, "Put off trading for a new truck as long as you can". Gave me a real warm fuzzy about the 17". On the Goodyears, he said they would be near $200 per tire ($150 - $200 (seems like his exact figure was $197 each)), but he was having a hard time getting them due to lack of supply.

Myself, I prefer Cooper LT tires and they are all I run on my Duallys. However, Cooper has no offering at this time for 17" Dually tires.

The lack of availability of 17" tires for a dually is one reason I have not traded yet.

Cooper has 17" tires... . just not for a Dually. I have 50K on mine now and ordered Rickson's 19. 5's with 245/70's last week. They are being shipped tomorrow. A little over 3. 5K for wheels/tires/balancing and shipping. If the tires make it to 100K they will pay for themselves before I trade the truck off... and I will keep the Ricksons and put the stockers back on.

For what it is worth I have seen two DRW 4X4 trucks in Texas running Super Swamper LTB's in a 34/10/17 size on stock rims. They were not rubbing... but they were both unloaded. Very aggressive tire... which I do not believe is a radial... but possibly a choice.

So I guess those guys at the tire shop are right and so far Goodyear is the only one that makes a tire to fit the 17 DRW dodges? Hmm guess Ill tell him to hold out a bit if he can to see if Cooper or anyone else jumps on the bandwagon and makes a tire to fit.

Thanks guys
