2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Time for shocks ...again ?!

Well the rig has 74,900 miles and it's time for shocks. Is it just me or do these things use up shocks ?

The factory set lasted around 20k , so the Bilstiens where an improvment.



I did like the Bilstiens but has there any other shock out there that will perform better and last longer ?

You're lucky cwarner, the Bilsteins on the front of my '96 are pretty tired after less than 20k. I blame part of it on the killer freeways and turnpikes of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York

Wow, mine has 74,000 miles and I'm still with the original shocks. Seems to ride about the same as always. How do you tell if they need replacing?

I started noticing the bumps feeling a little sharper than normal and sometimes when the rearend hits a bump it will kick around a little.



The Michigan roads are just awful.

only against damage and defects right ? I would think this is just normal wear and tear.

136,000 and still on the original shocks on the front. Rides great!!

Same question, Bob---my stock were junk from the get go so at 18K miles I went with the group buy on bilsteins and she rode like a cadillac for some time but at 53K on the clock the ride sucks---just did the old knee on the bumper test and she bounces as if no shocks are present!!! Does the lifetime warranty cover completely worn out in 30K miles?? If so, how to get them replaced under warranty---truck needs to go everyday so sending shocks back and waiting for bilstein to test them and decide wether to warranty or not is not an option.

Yep, I got replacements and will be sending the ones back I have on there and will (hopefully) get a refund.
