How many miles on your DTT set up?

Jeg's 4" Exhaust?

I have an 97 3500 ,4wd ,auto, tst plate #11 with a few other add-ons. I also have only 45,000 miles on the truck, it dosen't get used alot, but when i do use it, it pulls a large (38') gooseneck enclosed tri-axle triler, GCWR 20,660lbs. Just recently the transmission has started to slip (shudder), when in 4od and I roll into the throtle to much. i'm going to get it rebuilt, but i'd like to know form other TDR members if they have had simular experiences, and who they had do the work? I'm so far planing on haveing Daves Diesel do the work, and going with BD parts, any thoughts? comments? suggestions? thanks

If it hasn't been slipped much and with that low of mileage, I wonder if you only need a aftermarket T/C and valvebody? Maybe just a BD Pressure-lock if it is any good. That might be all I would do to it if it were mine, given the amount of use it gets.

If that is all you need, it would save you alot of money.

I had a completely rebuilt transmission and custom multiple disc converter installed about a month ago.

(I learned after the replacement) I toasted the TC in my truck without any significant towing since I purchased it (used) 3 years ago. The previous owner may have started the carnage, but I finished it with GSK and #4 plate and now with 95k on the ticker. I had a fried lockup clutch and we found the turbine (output) hub was very worn. The rebuilder was really surprized the front cover wasn't burned & warped, too.

For your towing weight a complete rebuild with billet parts is recommended.

From there, a (single disc or mutiple disk) lockup TC or a higher efficiency fluid coupling TC is a personnal choice.

My generic thoughts

Thanks for the reply, I fell like i'll probally find much more damage once the transmission is torn apart. So i'm going into this thinking i'll just treat it as a major overhall. I do plan on going with either the ATS TripleLok, or BD's converter. Also i'll upgrade the valve body, and have it setup where i have the ability to have 1 and 2nd gear lock-up, and have 4th to 3rd downshifts while in lockup. Thanks for the info, this is what I need people who have delt with this problem, and can share their experiences, both good and bad, with me. :)
