Hi Everyone,

As you can see in my profile, next month is when I'm planning to order my truck. However, since I've got some credit card debt and would love to have that all paid off, I'm wondering how long the time span from when you place your order till it is delivered?

Please let me know what you ordered and where you live so I could maybe get a better idea of how long I'm going to have to wait till I can actually have a new truck.

Also, does anyone know when Dodge will quit taking orders for this truck? I don't want the 2003 model, and I don't want to have to settle for a truck that isn't the color or options I want since I waited too long to order.

Thanks, Michael

I ordered my 3500 SLT Reg. Cab with a bunch of options Dec. 31, 01 and they figure about the middle of Feb. It's being built in Mexico as far as I know.

I am in N. H.

Michael:

I ordered mine (see sig for type) at the end of the first week of November 2000. Dealer said it would take anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks. And that it might be longer depending on whether or not it got built before they took their two week break at Christmas. They said call in a month and they would know when it would be in for sure. I called in a month they told me it was already in route could pick it up next week. I said oh crap hadn't tried to sell the old truck yet. Fortunately it sold in about 3 days after I placed an add. Sold it one day and picked up the new one two days later. Total time from order to pickup was 5 weeks. I was one happy camper and I have had a large grin on ever since I picked it up. Don't know when the cutoff date is for the new model year. Previous truck was a dodge gasser. I ordered in early april 96 and picked up in late may about 8 weeks for the 96 model. Both vehicles were built in the Mexico plant.

We ordered in June of 2001, but it really didn't matter since they didn't start building the 2002's until July 23, 2001. Our truck was built in Saltillo on July 31st, and we took delivery August 15th, 2001.

Be careful of the cut-off date! I tried to order a 2001 on May 5th, the dealer took the order, entered it in the computer and 10 days later I got a call from the dealer that Dodge refused to schedule a build - 2001 production had been cut off. With the change in body styles for 2003, I don't know if Dodge will have an early cut-off for a changeover - heck, they might even decide to introduce the 2003's earlier than usual. If you really want to order a 2002, you might ask your dealer to make an inquiry directly to Dodge regarding 2002 model year order cut-off for the 2500's and 3500's.

I ordered my truck on 2/17/00, and I was surprised when the dealer told me it would be a 2001. I took delivery on 4/17/00 - 2 months to the day after ordering. Mine was built in St. Louis, so it got to me pretty fast after the bulid date of 2/10-11 (it actually arrived at the dealer on 2/15). If it had been built in Mexico, it would have probably taken longer to get here. Mine never got on a train because of my proximity to St. Louis. If yours is built in St. Louis, you'll probably get it earlier too. When they have to be transported by train, they can be delayed quite awhile. They can sit in railyards for a long time waiting for a ride. Be aware that the Dodge 800 number is fun to call to check build status, but it's inaccurate. When I called it on 2/10/00, they said it was scheduled to be built the following week. It turned out that it was actually being built that day! I called two days later, and they said it was already built and in shipping status! That was an exciting day! It's like waiting for the birth of a baby. Enjoy it!

I ordered mine in April ' 01 and got it in March. Mine was built in Mexico and delivered to San Diego

The GM at my dealership told me last week that any trucks that were being built in Mexico were taking 1 to 2 weeks longer to get because of the boarder crossing and tighter security since the 9/11 terror attack. Said they even had to ship some through the Gulf of Mexico because of the long boarder delays. You might ask your dealer about this and check where your truck will be made. Hope this helps.
