time to buy a new truck

Hi Guys---the accountant says it's time to buy a new truck (just have to love it when they say that!!!) The hard part is --I really like my '99 1 ton. It is set up nice & runs strong. But maybe it is time to upgrade. I'm thinking a 4X4 (not a dual wheel) this time. Anything I should look for on a new truck? What about fuel milage?

I am fortunate that I can purchase thru the employee purchase program so that helps a lot. Any advise would be a big help.

What are you planning on ding with the truck? Tow, get groceries, haul ***???

I am a contractor--tow equipment--7-10 tons(not daily--1-2 times a week), general use such as hauling material & tools--50% of the time running empty.
