I have seen a set of 22. 5 setups for my truck. I have researched the adapters to make them fit.

All told for twice the money of a new set of stock tires I can have big wheels and rubber.

Is there a huge negative of this route? I assume ride will suffer.

Ride and ball joints will suffer... . As will your wallet. The tires will last close to 100k, but the ball joints won't. And they'll kill your shocks and bushings. But they'll last.

If you are seriously looking, I'd suggest www.americanforcewheel.com They make some direct bolt ons without the adapters to work loose and wrestle with constantly..... 19. 5 will ride slightly better.....

I had a group of trucks. . I'm now retired and am down to 1... I run 14 ply 19. 5" rubber... new rib steer tires on the front... . and a all season recap on the rear... . the same thread and re-capper who does all the USP tires... he has a good selection of casing... . We've found the cost per mile to be about 1/3 of the 17" rubber. . I see 90-95K miles on a front set... and 85-90K on the dual rears... Have never had a blow out... and only 3 or 4 flats on 4 trucks and I'm guessing close to 750K total miles... Since these are work trucks... they are steel wheels... and I don't personally think I'd get by with fancy alloy wheels...

Harsher ride... I've not seen a problem with front end parts that are greater than normal problems... . I didn't do front end work on the company trucks. . or for that matter on my personal driver unless I started to see uneven front tire wear... .
