Question for the painters on protecting from overspray

When I lived in Missoula I would run into bears while moutain biking in Rattlesnake wilderness.

I used to work at Braxton bike shop and had a customer come in, she was white as a ghost and shacking. She was riding in Pattie canyon and a cougar was lying in the grass watching her.

I might be spending the night in missoula on thursday (Costco parking lot) on our way to Yellowstone. I've got the bear spray and the 44mag.

Bear spray is just going to add a little Tabasco to the taste of your A** if it's a Grizz. A black bear ya it works but so do rocks. But Grizz is another story. Talk to the Fish and Game people all the time as they take a trail to the LOLO national forest thats inback of our property and they laugh at the comment of hikers about feeling safe because WE HAVE BEAR SPRAY. It's not a cure all it's not a Magnum. But it just might give you that second to get lucky and get away the best thing is just to be aware of what is going on around you make noise. I found that out last hunting season. No more music on the i pod and packing game out for me

Get a true 5 shot deterrent

I have a Freedom Arms model 83 in . 454Casull. My cylinder only holds 5, and yes I carry 5 in it hammer on safety "click". Not much in North America the 1st shot won't deter from further mischievious activities including life itself.

Im NOT SURE and your more than likely right and your gun is bigger than mine. But last years hunting season I was riding lead on a pack string (with my i pod in my ear) I will never do that again. We rode up on a Mama and 2 cubs (SCARED THE I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER OUT OF ME) Things started to go south VERY fast. You can have the BIGGEST gun be the BEST shot and I found out all that really doesn't matter because I was having a MAJOR MAY DAY in my shorts. Its just a LITTLE different when we type it on the internet and when you see Mama really ****** off in person. I now carry a Mossberg 500 12 ga with slugs no more cowboy crap for me

For bears and in home protection my #1 pick goes to the Mossberg w/ 3" mags. For protection from hostiles with more shooting room I like my #2 pick, the AK. And as a general defence of life and property and in truck at times I like the SW 629. The Mossberg has spent allot of time with me over the years. Hunting it was always next to me on the ground in a tent or on my back hiking and 4 wheelers in the woods/back country. Bear Spray??? There is no way I would stake my life on a spray can.
