I've been thinking lately about selling the '02,and buying a newer truck. I've found a really sharp '06 mega cab shortbed dually4x4,and am considering selling/trading. The '02 has 82,000 mi with warranty till100k. The '06 has 54,000 mi,and i'm unsure of the remaining warranty on it. One deciding factor is the recent lift pump/injection pump that was put on the '02. I only owe $1,000. 00 on the '02,so i've got pretty decent equity there. They're asking $31,995 for the '06. I guess what i'm looking for is the pro's & cons of buying the '06. Any input would be appreciated.

Fuel mileage! At $4. 00+ a gallon, factor in a reduction of 2-5 mpg. Depending on how much and how you drive, the '06 could cost you an extra $1000/year in fuel costs alone.

I have an 02, and like it (90k). One of the main reasons I like it is we have fixes for the VP44, APPS, auto transmission. Older, yes, I think a better overall truck because we have the "bigger" bugs worked out of it.

Better yet, go back to driving your '92... probably gets better fuel consumption than the '02 OR the '06! :)

Good idea... . I was getting ready to take it out of the shed this weekend for a ride,as the salt was pretty much gone from the roads. Now we're supposed to get 5"-7" of snow friday !:{ It's kind of funny that before i restored the '92 i would drive it only when the roads were too bad,and didn't want to drive the '02 in the salt. It was really good at returning shopping carts back to the store too (at 20mph). As for fuel consumption... ... . Ihave to learn to keep my foot out of it,but it's too fun "HAZING" the tailgaters. :-laf

Thanks for all of the input so far.
