Can anyone tell me what the timing should be for a 2004. 5 HO with A/T? I want to install ROKK timing sensor and would like to see if the sensor advances the timing 1-2 degrees as claimed.

Timing

jwilliams, It may be available, but from where? DC tells me to go a dealer, Cummins hasn't replyed to my question.

It's what jwilliams said. There are different timing maps for different throttle positions, steady/transient fueling, etc... I think the 1-2 degree timing change is a safe bet. Speaking for 03's, timing is typically 1 deg ATDC to 6 BTDC based on the above variables. I messed around and tried to advance the timing to 8-10 BTDC across the map and it actually decreased my MPG. I only got worse MPGs, cold starting, and more engine rattle. Right now, I have my timing set at 4-6 BTDC and am happy with the results.

So I think your timing change will put you closer to that area.
