Does anyone know how much timing the tst is adding ?

How much timing is the bully dog downloader at 90 hp performance setting?

Thats all I need to know, I think i have too much timing on top end under high boost with these modules stacked. I contacted TST and they have given me instructions of how to disable the timing on the tst box. I think I will try that.

How do you disable timing on the TST? I believe it adds about 12 degrees max.

Good luck getting Bully Dog to tell you anything. They claim it's all proprietary information.

I called the tech support at Bullydog and all I could get from them was "yes it increases pulse, timing, and some rail pressure. They said that they could not give out the increase in timing but that it did add timing.

I wish I knew if the advance of the timing was any where close to the tst of 12 degrees

I wouldn't think the tst could add more than a few degrees with out setting codes. A down loader could set the timing where ever wanted.

I would think removing the wire harness going to the cam and crank sensors and hooking them back stock would eleminate the tst timing.

how would the ecu know (and set a code) what the timing was if the tst interrupted both the cam and crank sensors??

If you have too much timing rattle on the top end dropping the PP down to the Tow setting and going up a level or two on the TST. This quieted mine down and made more power overall.

The tst is fooling the ecm about the timing and into making a early injection event. Some how the ecm catches this some times and we get a 0336 code. I think there is a limit to how much timing can be made this way. By programing the the timing with a down loader in to the ecm it doesn't care. What ever we set .

Correct on the 12 degrees max, But I too am wondering how to disable the timng, not that I would, But its just good to know :)

I too would like to know for sure how to disable the timing on the tst. When I get my Smarty I will let it do the timing. The only thing I'll want from the tst is duration what it does best and let the va3. 1 do the pressure. I don't think 12* is enough timing when running upper levels on the tst and pressure from a pressure box. I'm thinking more like 16*-17* is needed to burn the fuel with the 46lbs boost i'm running.

There is a timing light for diesel engines, it use a transducer which slips onto the number fuel rail and picks up the fuel injection pulse, the strobe light flashes just like it was connected to a gasoline engine. You then read the timing setting on the timing tag if one is present on the Cummins 5. 9
