Timing and valves

I'm still trying to get this thing to run right. My mileage is around 16 hwy and city and used to be 17/21. A couple years ago I snapped off my input shaft just pulling out of my driveway (no kidding!) and I rarely pull anything but my bassboat. Well, I got that fixed and the timing set but every since I just don't get the same power or mileage out of it. Now once again my TPS is shot. That's three in four years and 50,000 miles.

I'm going to have the dealer look at it for warranty (TPS) and when I'm there I'd like to have them check the timing again because I think it's slow. With that said, what do I ask for? I just want to be sure it gets what it needs because I'm a bit of a skeptic when it comes to quality service.

Maybe the pump and injectors need to be replaced. Any ideas???

Hey there Butch,
From all I've read here at TDR the timing preference seems to be between 1. 35mm and 1. 40mm with some going a bit higher. Mine is at 1. 37/1. 38mm.
The TPS is notorious for baggin out from what I've read as well. I have apparently been REAL lucky cause we've had no probs with it yet. It is rather touchy when setting it up to regulate 3rd-4th shift though.
I don't think the TPS is going to affect or be affected by the pump/injector health, but hey, I'm still learning here too. MHO.
