Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Timing Housing Revision by Cummins

When exactly did Cummins revise the timing housing to cure the KDP problem? My 99 has the new housing but dad's 98 didn't. Anyone have the exact engine serial number or any dates to help me? Thanks Dan

info on tdr says no serial no. were kept on trucks related to the timing case. seem I read it could be a problem up to 2001. do search lots of info on this . good luck.

I'm curious what the build date on your 99 with the newer housing is. I have often wondered if I should tear mine apart to see if I need to fix the KDP or not. My truck was built in June of 99 so it is one of the later built 99's (I think). I've always thought that made it likely it had the newer housing.



Is it likely that new/old housing design is related to the block # or engine/truck assembly plant?

Mine engine was built on 4-30-99 it is on the bottom of the label on the side of the timing housing.
