 The engine is at TDC with the pin locked. How do I know if the pump is were it should be. since the pump shaft is keyed are there marks on the pump gear that I could use to line them up.

the engine is at TDC. The marks on the pump ear are lined up with the mark on the timing cover. My concerns are for the pump shaft. I read somewere that the pump shaft should be at six o clock. But the article did not elaborate any further.

Any help would be appreciated. Are there any books on the workings of our style pumps and the installation process?

that means you have to pull the front cover off and inspect the marks on the gears.

front cover

I have the cover off. I see the mark on the cam gear. What mark am I to use on the pump gear. I see a series of lettering that look like diferent marks.
