I thought I would post these for future reference for anyone who is interested.

Timing Pin - 3903924 - $2. 92

O-Ring - 3913994 - $1. 30

Star Retaining Ring - 3904849 - $. 37

I would recommend the drop valve method to accurately find TDC and then use the timing pin, if accurate, for reference after that.

Matt,

I did not reinstall the star washer. I can't pull it out without the aid of a pliers with just the oring on so I figure it is in there pretty tight.

I was speaking with Tom at Black Mountain Diesel about not reinstalling the star washer and he mentioned they never reinstall it. His logic is that while pressurizing the crankcase for doing the KDP repair it only takes a few PSI to pop a gasket so it is not likely that there is too much pressure trying to push the pin out.

illflem,

Can you believe it wore out on me? Although it did have the help of a 1/2" breaker bar :)

Blowing out gaskets....

CPFF's latest KDP jig kits have the nifty 'pressure cooker' style pressure relief valve that sits on (hovers above... ) the oil fill tube.

Even if you crank the pressure/flow way up - you don't have to worry about blowing out anything.
