I have the TST R-49 with the adjustable timing. Question is does more timing = less MPG? I put the box on +3 and nothing really changes. +6 and the over head ( I know I cant really go by that) goes down from 12. 9 to 10. 2 and the more timing I add the more the MPG goes down. I know when I advance it my EGTs drop big time.

are you using the set timing, or the adjustable timing. A small timing advance should net an increase in fuel economy. You can't get accurate results by watching the overhead. I run my tst on the auto timing at 12.

12deg on the auto setting, not the SET setting. I think the SET is like static timing. havent' messed with that. I switch it to auto mode and can run it up to 18* advance

Im talking about on manual setting. Once you put it on auto what ever you have the timing set on is over ruled by the auto settings

Well when you change the timing to 15* Auto it means that the maximum timing advance is now 15* and will be automatically incremented to the 15* max by the standard TST programming.

You do change the maximum timing advance the TST does using the Auto setting.
