Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Timing Question

I would like to know the recommended timing for my 96' 2500 4x4 with (automatic). I pull a 25' gooseneck with hay most of the year. The stock fuel plate is slid forward, my air cleaner has gone through some remodeling and exhaust is shortened and cleaned out. Egts are good and boost is good for the stock plate. I do plan on upgrading the fuel plate this winter and either transmission mods or conversion. I would appreciate some sensible timing. MY truck does smoke(blue gray) and run rough when started cold. Consensus seems to be that 15. 5 - 16 is best for our 12 valves. Sure made a positive improvement with mine.
