I just got my Snapon timing kit in so I'm tempted to set the timing this weekend. Problem is I didn't buy any of the consumables listed in the timing faq yet. Do you guys that play with your timing alot think this would be:

Probably ok?

Or best wait till I have the parts on hand?

Best Regards,

Mac

I would replce the lock washer and the O-Ring. I have gotten away without replacing either but for the $8-$10 it cost to replace them it worth doing so IMHO.

Mackie:

Your 1996 pump likely does not have delivery valve sealing washers. I bet yours is a "gasketless" design. Most 1994-1995 used these washers. Cummins literature shows pump #'s that should not have the washers under the delivery valves.

If your nervous wait, but you are likely ok. I do like to change out the lock washer on the injection pump gear/shaft each time. Its cheap insurance.

Clean the taper and gear really well (Electrical Contact Clr. or Fast drying brake cleaner).

Good luck

Andy
