ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET A TIMING TAPE TO STICK ON THE BALANCER SO I CAN USE MY TIMING LIGHT AND A POINTER ONLY NEED ABOUT 20 DEGREES EITHER SIDE OF TDC

cummins 3824572 magnetic tape -5 to 40 degrees 9. 25" diameter pulley?

cummins 3824571 magnetic pointer

The tape is pretty thick, you might need to adjust the engine's speed sensor from the . 052 spec. to . 070. . or so.

Good luck. Andy

The harmonic balancer is 9 1/4" diameter. I just used masking tape and made a mark for top dead center. Then I figured where I should be shooting and made a mark there. I also made a mark for stock setting in a different color. Then I ran the engine and found where it was set, made a mark and ran it again to verify. Then measured how far I needed to go and did it.

I have a full set of instructions I wrote with a tool list if you are interested.

TIMING

THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO ,HOW DID YOUR CHANGE DO FOR FUEL MILEAGE AND POWER? WHAT WAS YOUR TIMING SET AT ?,AND WHAT IS IT NOW? THINK, I WILL GET THAT MAG TAPE AND POINTER :D :p Oo.

Timing was at about 9* I bumped it up to 15*

I haven't driven it much (maybe 20 miles) since changing it, so I don't know what the mileage numbers will be. I also changed the turbo at the same time, so I can't compare it performance wise.

Besides, I miss the old beast, so when I drive it, I drive it like I stole it. :D
