I got the three bolts loose that hold the injector pump to the gear housing, but cannot rotate the pump to time it. It saeems like the pump is stuck. Has anyone ran into this problem and know how to break it loose without damaging the pump?
Check the 4th bolt like the guys said, but the pump could also be stuck to the front cover and/or gasket. I had to give the pump a gentle whack with the a rubber dead blow hammer.
Thanks for the responses guys! I feel a little stupid now, but I didnt know there was a 4th bolt. I was wondering why the pump wouldnt turn. I will go back out and try it again. Should I notice a power increase along with lower EGT's? I am planning on turing the pump 1/8th inch and was wonder what I should be expecting.
I noticed the lower EGT more than increased power. Cruising at 65 my temps dropped from about 800 (pre turbo) to about 650.
Of course, Piers also replaced my stock turbo housing with a 16cm2 housing, so I'm not sure how much of the EGT drop was the housing, and how much was from the pump timing advance.
With mine, I noticed more upper RPM power and lower towing EGT. It wants to keep pulling hard through the gears until max RPM. Makes me . I went ~3/16".
