We have a service truck in our shop that had its head redone and block rebuilt. It came back from the rebuilders assembled with the pump on it and "set up". Our mechanic didnt check the pump timing. Just put it back together. It ran fine straight away. He raced it up a few time and then shut it off. Came back the next am and fired it up and it ran like crap. The timing gear on the pump had slipped.
So----After we get the engine timing set at TDC cant we pull the gearon the pump, turn the pump shaft a little until the pin in the side of the pump lines up, put the gear back on, torque it down and go?
We're not changing the timming just trying to reset it to specs. Its a '97, with a 215 pump, standard trans. Plate says 11. 5 deg.
Help Please.
