Timing

I'm getting my ole blue special/prince of darkness #ad
injectors soon.
I want to know if I should get my pump timing set?
If so, set to what? Do I just go to the injection shop and ask them to set it or do I ask them to set it to a specific measurement?

1990 W250 NV4500, 16cm2, I full turn in tweaked pump w/ the diaphragm turned 45 degrees closer to the thinest wear, 3" JRE exhaust w/ walker muff.

I asked my shop to set the timing at 1. 35 instead of 1. 25 but I don't think they did it. Could not get a straight answer from them, they said they tweaked every thing once they got it on the Dyno. Marks still line up so I think I'll bump up a little and see what happens.

If you want it set different you will need to tell them where. E-mail power wagon and ask him.

I have mine set at 1. 65mm and it seems to work well. I think 1. 5 to 1. 65 is a good spot to set it.

-What tools do you need?
-Is the process difficult?
-What performance/longevity trade-offs are there?

6BT IN A GMC, do you have any pictures of your conversion? Sounds real nice. Also 1. 65mm reading on the dial indicator; is your higher number mean your timing is more advanced? Thanks

I would like to add one more question to Millers list.

What exactly happens when the timing is changed fron 1. 25 to say, 1. 4. What does this do inside the pump? Does it increase fuel, introduce fuel earlier, increase pressure, or what?
