I know this subject has been covered before,but I am wondering what tools are needed to set timing on a 93 .

I have ordered the pump wrench from snap-on,and would appreciate any leads on where to get a how-to on the procedure .

Your question is sort of loaded.



What you need depends on just what you want to do.



1. Just move the pump... You need a 1/4 inch socket set w/extensions and 13mm 12 pt socket. 10 mm wrench, L or C shaped 13 MM box end.



You reach the back nut holding the pump flange with a socket on the 1/4 inch set, reaching from in front of the pump through the space between the pump and head.



The lower nut is reached using the L or C shaped wrench, getting a flat or so at a time.



The one on the outside is easy.



There is a bolt below the pump that holds the flat bracket attached to the front (line end) of the pump, and you'll need to take the linkage system out of the way.



2. To change the timing by measurement:



All the above, plus an adapter and a dial indicator that screws into the end of the hydraulic head.



Also, you'll need to accurately locate the timing pin to true TDC.



Someone found a cheap source for them a while back (both indicator and adapter), but memory fails... Not sure who it was.

Hey bud, the timing adapter that goes in the back of the pump is available from www.sirtools.com for 25. 00 part number va6015 it has a 8mm collet for the Mitutoyo dial indicator which you can choose your choice on page r58 at www.mitutoyo.com. The dial indicator has a 8mm stem. I haven't attacked the timing yet, but the manual covers it pretty well. 1. 50 is where you want to be as far as I've gathered. Hopes this helps. Tim
