 Well, after experiencing 3rd&4th gear locking and unlocking in my transmission I ordered a noise filter from DTT. Before having a chance to install this,I read Tony Garcin's article on a possible tin foil fix. Well,I tried it and 150 miles later no more problem. I did "upgrade" to Heavy Duty Reynold's Wrap,no generic for me,wrapped the foil in electrical tape and loomed it. Hopefully, this will be a permanent fix,but I'll keep the noise filter in the event of a future problem. Total cost: maybe a buck.

Interesting, Can you repost the link to this article?

THANKS, I'v installed the DTT filter and still get a mild hop out on rare occassion. Sounds like the foil might kill it for good.

Yeah,as stated above it's in the home page opener. I wrapped the full length from the alternator to the ground cable for the battery. Hope this does it forever but I'll post if it starts doing it again. Smart controller eliminates this problem but around town I prefer deleting it sometimes to induce lower mph upshifts. Anything to gain some fuel economy.

I was curious about this so I looked at my trucks wire and it is in the same place as the pics on the home page but it disapeares into the loom above the alt. It never attaches to the alt. Whats up with that?

10Ga Black wire W/tan tracer. Yes?

Yeah, that's the one. I wrapped it starting where it goes into that bundle and all the way to a connecter leading to battery. I haven't driven the truck since yesterday so hopefully the problem continues to be solved. It seems to cheap a fix to be permanent. So far it's the only thing cheap. These trucks are money pits but fun.
