Before I had my running boards shot with black Line X I had clearance lights with yellow lenses on them. Now with the Line X yellow lenses will not do. I searched all over the internet for tinted or smoked lenses and found nothing. What I did find was clear lenses and discovered what is called Nite Shades. Nite Shades is advertised as a translucent paint for things like tailights and such. So my experiment started and I think it turned out pretty dang good and actually surprised myself. I tried the Nite Shades on one of my old lights with the yellow tint and was not impressed, now the clear ones turned out much better. Not sure if anyone here has tried this or not but, I thought I was post my results.

I started with 400 grit sand paper on the lens to rough it up then a light coat of paint after it dried I wanted it a little darker so another coat was applied. You can go as dark as you like. I did have a little trouble with cracks in the paint. I think I tried to put too much on at one time, so I went with a real light first coat which stopped the cracking then applied more after that. Once the paint was dry I applied a clear coat on it, after it dried I hit it with 2000 grit paper to smooth things out and applied more clear. I think I have about 5 coats of clear on it before I waxed it. The clear coat is from Duplicolor I picked up at Autozone. Being L. E. D's they are bright enough that the paint does not dim the lights output very much can hardly tell at all. Now I have to do 10 more like it so I can put them on the running boards and I also ordered black bases for them instead of the chrome looking ones I have. These lights are also a direct replacement for the factory clearance lights on the fenders.

This is the light I chose

4x1 Amber 12 LED With Clear Lens Clearance/Marker - led truck lights, led trailer lights, led clearance lights, led marker lights

And this is how it turned out

I have the cab lights already on the truck. These are the clearance lights on the fenders and tailgate. Recon does have a set of four for the fenders but they want $100 just for the four lights and none for tailgate. To me thats just ridiculous.

Before and after of the lights. All 12 are done and waitin for things to cool off outside to get them mounted.
