I have not yet picked up my truck but am upset by the fact that part of the quick order package for the SLT listed "Tinted glass" there was no mention in the text, nor was I advised by the dealer that if I did not order the sliding rear window, only the back door glass would have the dark tint. Had I known that I would have ordered it. It will cost $250 to replace the rear window with the dark tinted glass. The dealer has offered to tint the window with that stick on stuff, but many of those that I've seen look like hell when it separates.

This may seem like sniveling over a minor issue but to me "Tinted Glass" means all glass (except the windshield of course).

GCross, my 04. 5 QC came with the rear door windows tinted only. When I asked about the front door windows not being tinted I was told in some states it is illegal so they don't tint them. I had an autographics shop tint them with the stick-on tint and it has a life time gaurantee. I wasn't concerned about the rear window as I'm having a camper shell installed that has tinted windows.

How is everything in Downey, CA? Graduated from Downey High many moons ago, now live in Idaho.

Strange you should ask because I will be picking up my truck in Idaho and am thinking about moving there when I retire next year. All is OK Downey High still here.

I wouldn't get to upset over the tinting. Dodge trucks have been delivered like this for years. In my opinion, bite the bullet and try to get a deal on the slider. You'll love the truck anyway.

This has always been a complaint of mine with Dodge. My '97 was the same way.

Anyway, I called some of the local tint shops around town (I don't need or want a slider) and had the two front doors and rear window tinted for $65. This is using a lifetime product. This is the 7th vehicle I have had tinted, and I never regret it. I've never had a problem, either. Just have it done professionally.

Most shops use either 3M/Lumar or Sunguard films that match very well to the factory tint.

By the way, i got quotes of $300-500 for a tinted slider!

I just went out and checked mine. Rear window IS tinted. Matches the rear door windows. Now I'm wondering if the dealer did it, or if it came from factory tinted.

I think I will have the front door windows tinted to match .

According to the responses received, you must have the slider, or the rear window defroster.

Be careful tinting the fronts, states have rules that vary as to the degree of tint allowable.

Actually, where I live it is a county by county rule. In Bernalillo county (Albuquerque) they allow a maximum of 35% on any window in front and 20% on all windows behind the driver (0% is solid black - opaque). I have the 35% on the front and got the 20% on the rear and there really isn't a lot of difference between the two. I will say it has made a BIG difference in the amount of UV "heat" I fell when driving the truck on a sunny day, as well as it cuts down the glare from the HUGE side mirrors at night.

My '03 RAM 2500 SLT came with "sunscreen" glass in the back quad doors and fixed rear window. Maybe DC got cheaper and changed some stuff around with the packaging.
