Any one ever heard of the Tiny Tach before? I just picked one up tonight at the local diesel shop. Just wondering if any one else is running one. www.tinytach.com is the web site.
I started with one and after I got the Mopar tach installed the two were reading the same. I like it for tuning cause you can read it to the nearest RPM so it is going to stay in. The battery is supposed to last 5 years. They are easy to install and it has not given any trouble at all. Only thing is when going down a hill there is no fuel being pushed thru the injector line so it doesn't read right then.
I have one on my 1943 Dodge Carryall, mounted under the hood. Its great for service. It also measures and locks on the highest RPM reached. Also has a run time hour meter built in. I am pleased with the operation. I am not pleased that when the battery fails, its a throw away, thats what the company told me, cant change battery ???
WM300, you can bet I'll try to replace the battery when it quits! It may not work but it will be worth a try. I forgot about the high RPM lock, I'll have to try that.
I put one in my truck last summer. It is only usefull as a cruising and idleing gauge. It doesn't think/display fast enough to use for upshifting while accelerating, and like was already stated it doesn't work while decellerating the engine (shifting or coasting). I don't really need a tach to upshift, and it works good for knowing when to downshift while towing, so I like it. Only complaint is that it has no light. I mounted mine on the message center over top of where it says Cummins so I can use the map light to check RPM occasionally at night.
