Ok, I want to mount my brakesmart controller and transferflow display in the rectangular cubby down on the center console. I figured it would be easier to remove the console, make all my brackets and put the units in the cubby and then replace the whole thing. Here is the thing, the truck is an 06 laramie (electric shift transfer case) with a 6 speed, and the console is different than my buddies 05 and the picture in the service manual. Something is holding it up and it does not want to come out. It could be just a stubborn clip, but i was scared to yank on it for fear i missed a fastener. the last thing i need is to break it or worse loosen something and make a squeek  So any body that has had this thing, out, any tricks, or do i just need to man up and give it a yank. Oh well, its dads truck anyway, if i break it it's on his dime. :-laf thanks Phil

On an 06' manual transmission truck do the following:

Remove the rubber cup holders from the floor console.

Remove the floor console by removing the screws that were under the rubber inserts.

Once the floor console is removed, you will find two screws under the lower part of the dash. Use a mirror or feel for them if you have a problem finding them. This will remove the lower section of the dash behind the gear shift.

I just did that last weekend trying to mount a CB back there... Hence, you need to remove the rectangular tray(?) and the 3-cup holder to reveal 3 mounting bolts into the steel floor. That will remove the first piece of the center console, and also reveal the bolts for the 2nd piece of the console and the screws to get that rectanglar plate (cubbie) that I think you are talking about. You can also remove the boot for the stick from below too, made navigating pieces around easier.

Hope that helps.
