After putting in new heavy front and rear springs in my 92 DC the truck rides awfully rough. If i run 45-50# pressure in the 235/85-16 tires when running empty it doesn't ride too bad. Is it safe to run this pressure when driving 70-75mph?

While you might not have a catastrophic tire failure, I wouldn't consider it safe. The tires will heat up *much* more quickly and would probably hit a much higher peak temperature than if you ran the tires at their normal pressure (either 65 or 80 psi depending on whether they're load range 'D' or 'E'), especially at that speed. If you really really want to run the tires that low, then I definitely wouldn't go faster than 60mph.

I think it would be much better to run the tires at whatever they say on the sidewall, and get yourself a set of Rancho 9000 shocks. I don't have them yet, but from what I've read here they're adjustable and on their lower settings can soften the ride tremendously.

Just put on new "E" range tires. The tire shop told me it was OK to run at 45-50 PSI as long as the truck was empty. That was what they put in. Said to increase if loaded or towing. I pumped them up a couple of weeks ago for towing the travel trailer and now that I'm home, the truck is riding rougher than he**. Need to drop the pressure again.

I had a set of Bilstein shocks on but replaced them with Monroe Gas Matic's (NAPA brand). that made a difference as well.
