I have a post like this in the Product &Accesories forum. But I have a couple different questions. I narrowed my size selection down to 265's in a E load range Or 285 in an E or maybe D, the only E rated 285 is the interco TRXus Mud Terrain. SOooooo will the 265 look O. K. on a stock height W250? I think the 285's would look better but the ply thing has me stressed out. While I don't tow much right now I may and when I tow I want to be able to without any added hassles. Also I am worried about the mileage being messed up with bigger tires. My Uncles 2000 or 2001 2500 Cummins looks pretty good with the stock 265 Michelins. If I could see some different pictures of 265's and 285's it would help me make up my mind. Any advice would be appreciated. The biggest thing I tow is probably my tractor maybe 6-7000# not sure, and 4wheelers and whole trailer loads of wood in my 16-footer. Sorry for the rambling

i would go with 285 or wider... anything under that is just to narrow... . i am going thru the same thing you are right now... i got 285's coming... but i think i am gonna get 33x12. 5 with a 16x10 rim... should look very large!

I've followed both your threads in the product/accessory forum. While I don't have any pictures of my truck with those specific tire sizes, I have a bit of my own opinion I'll give you.



Last fall I bought a set of the Dueler A/T Revos. The price was a big turn off for me as I usually bought the cheapest tires in the past (previous set was Merit All-Countries A/T that lasted 24,000). I decided to drop the cash on the Revos and I will tell you that I have been impressed. Even in 2WD I've noticed the difference in freshly plowed farm fields as well as in a foot of snow. In 4WD I have gotten out of some places where I've needed a tractor to assist me in the past. I've put 14,000 on them so far and have rotated at 6,000. These tires wear good and are in excellent shape yet, still like new. The Revos also come with a 60,000 mile tread-wear warranty. I have no experience with the other 3 brands you're looking at. Hope this helps you out a little bit.

I'm running 285's. Look up my gallery in reader's rigs and look at my truck. They rub a little when I bounce and turn at the same time... but they run well.



I would like to run 33/12. 50's but I would need a lift.

So, CB Parker(nice truck by the way) and others with 285's. They should do all right with moderate towing? The heaviest thing I pull is the tractor and not very far usually 30-40 miles at the most. But if I get 285's and have to pull a heavy load will I be alright? How much do the sidewalls flex? I'm young and I've never run a "mud" tire, and I always wanted to. So I kinda like those Interco TRXus Mud terrains, in 285/75-16 E @ 3745# Thats gotta be a tough tire. And only 135 bucks! Man that would look good on my truck. And, I'll have to run any tire on my stock wheels for now because I need the tires first but I'll get the wheels in a month or two, shouldn't get more than 1000 miles on them by then. I shouldn't have any trouble getting a bigger tire moving(CUMMINS POWER)I helped it some when I accidentally moved some screws on my pump(OOPS). Any more advice ??

Load range D's should be alright. Thats what my dad runs on his 97 2500 4x4. It gets loaded pretty heavy every now and then and pulls a gooseneck quite often. Haven't had any trouble yet. I think the 285's look the best. Thats why mine is getting lifted, 235/85's are rubbing on the front right now. alonzo

Steve, I have 33 x 12. 5 x 16. 5 BFG mud terrains on my truck. The traction and looks are great, but I'm sure they cost me a little mpg. There is no lift on it, but the previous owner had the front springs re-arched and a leaf added to compensate for the usual sag. I get a little contact if I hit a bump and turn at the same time. You can look in my reader's rigs album and see pics. Weight has not been a problem, and as you can see in pics, it hauls quite a bit at times.

I really like my 285/75s. I got mine barely used cheap (I'm on a high school budget, I'm a senior!). They run well, and they are D range. I used to run E rated 245/75s. These at D have a higher capacity because of the higher volume. I think they work and look really well. I pull a big steel titan 4 horse trailer and no problems yet. If I had my choice and could buy brand new tires, I would wrather get E's just because.



When I put on my lift springs and stuff and get some more money, I'll go to 33/12. 50s. Any bigger than that will be a little much, but those are big enough to look good.

If you do decide to go with a 265 look at the goodyear workhorse radial. It is rated about 3200lbs and looks a lot like an MTR only cheeper and a little harder compound... about 120$ each at wal-mart. . I have them on my blazer and love them. . If they made them bigger they would be on the dodge...

I've about decided to go ahead and get 285's ,but not what kind yet. Wonder what those TRXus 285's would look like on my old square 1st Gen?? I wish alot more manufacturers made a 10-ply 285, that would be awesome. I'd like to try a mud tire once in my life,though.

can you run a 10inch rim with 285s or is that to small of a tire?

My friend is running 285/75r16 on a 10". I think it's fine. The tread width on the 285 is like 11. 3". I wouldn't go any smaller though.

Check the actual weight rating on the tire. I had the Michelin 265 "E" on my truck. When I replaced them with Remington 285 "D" the actual load per tire went up by 50# each.

I'm seriously thinking about the Cooper S/T 285/75-16 It looks pretty good, has some siping and deep tread. I'll check on some prices today, a couple people have said this was a good tire.

I'm running Wild Country TXR's. I really like them. They are aggresive for the offroading I do sometimes, and they look good but don't wear really fast like boggers. Plus I like how they hum.
