I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THE RIGHT TIRES AND WHEELS FOR MY DUALLY FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE FOREVER. I WANT SOMETHING THAT LOOKS REAL SHARP, ALUMINUM PREFERABLY, THAT WON'T BREAK THE BANK LIKE 19. 5'S. TIRE WISE I WANT SOMETHING IN A LOAD RANGE E, WITH THE OFF ROAD LOOK, THAT WILL FILL UP SOME OF THE FENDER WELL. ALSO, CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT IS THE LARGEST 16" TIRE A PERSON CAN PUT ON THE STOCK WHEELS WITHOUT THE DUALLYS RUBBING. I DO TOW, BUT NOTHING REAL HEAVY, I'D SAY MAXIMUM 12,000LBS. ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANKS!!

MIKE

You could go with ALCOA wheels they are not that expensive and well hold up just fine. They have three styles to choise from, all are nice. The largest tire for the dually is 235-85-16, these will fit without rubbing. I run 255-85-16's, and a spacer. The BFG mud tire is very tough, has great traction and isn't to loud on the road. The TRXUS mud tire is very agressive, great traction, and a little noisier on the road. Also the BFG wears great, just rotate and watch the air pressure.

What type of spacer did you have, where did you get them and how big are they. I have 98,000 miles on my original rear tires and it's time to replace them. No way I'm going to replace them with the 215's again.

Thanks

the newer 3500's [since 01. 5 rear disc. ] have a different back spacing than yours Tony. . he can run a 255 without spacers and larger with spacers

01's 01's :D

I Need not a spacer for my 255/85's. BFG Mud terrains. I have run fairly well loaded with 3/4" MDF ... lots of it and they never rubbed. I can fit my hand in between them no problems.

the 2001 model year started the different offset campaign.

Yeah but the Cummins is louder. Everyone asks me "aren't those loud on the road? "Yeah they prolly are but the motor is louder tho" Then I start the thruck and get the reply "Good Point" :p

I do use a spacer, it is from Performance Wheel. They sell many different sizes and styles. I have a 1 1/4" spacer, and it is made of 6061-T6 Aluminum. I almost think if you tow haevey the 235's would need one as well. There was no way my 255's would work without a spacer. The newer (99 and up) trucks have a little more then an 1/8" more offset, that real isn't very much. I have run BFG m/t for several years and I like the wear. They also ride nice and the niose is to loud. The TRXUS mud tires I just got, they are my summer shoes. They are about 3/4" taller then the BFG's, and I suspect they will sing abit louder also. The ALCOA wheels are very nice, a great forged wheel. I have the HOT SHOT's, and like the look.

A little off the subject, :D but Toolman that's a good looking truck!I like the emblem under running lights on the tailgate. Nice touch:eek:

Not trying to be a pest, but I have another question for you.

When I called Performance Wheel about their spacers, they told me that the spacer is "Lug Centric" and the outer wheel needs to be located by the lugs, not the hub. My research on Alcoa wheels indicates that they are "Hub Centric" as they use the same flanged lug nuts as the stock wheels. If this is true, have you run into any problems with vibration or lugs coming loose?

Thanks for your assistance, it's greatly appreciated.
