Looking for a good off road tire 305/70 R16 in a load range E. I have had BFG Muds and Goodyear MTR's but they are load range D's and just wear out in a heart beat. The only E's that I've seen have been more of a road tire. I looked at Tire Rack and didn't come up with much and the local Discount told me that it isn't made which I know is total B. S.

For some reason my local tire guy said he can't find open country toyos in 305/70r16. Toyo's site doesn't list them either. The few places I see them for sale have not responded to emails to see if in fact these are in stock. I did find Bridgestone Destination M/t's which are a 10 ply e rated tire in 305's. They are very open with little siping and look to be noisy but I may try them if I can't find the toyos.

I've ran 305 70's the last 3 sets of tires. First set was an aggressive cooper tire. Probably got around 60k out of them... ran them down pretty thin. Now I have some Nitto Terra Grapplers from Discount Tire dot com... I'm buying the coopers again next time. I thought i'd want a more street type tread but still in a big tire size, they seem to be wearing good but I got such good wear out of the cheap Coopers i'm wishing I would have went with them again. The Coopers had tread like your BF Mud TA's.

Are the coopers and the Nitto's E rated? I seem to only find thme in a D.

Boy I don't remember if the Coopers were or not. They lasted quite a while so the compound was harder... I remember them being a little "squishy" which most tires that size are i'm sure. I spose a D would flex a little more than an E.

The Nitto's are definatly E rated though.

I just checked this site and they have a wide variety http://www.tireeasy.com/ I purchased a set of tires here two months ago for my wifes grocery getter. Had the tires in 48 hrs. I was nervous at first because the credit card receipt showed germany as the head office. Then I recieved an email a day later telling me the tires would be here in ten days. That afternoon the ups truck dropped off the tires. They were shipped out of ma.

I could not find a toyo dealer in new england that had m55 toyos in stock, so I ordered from 1010tires.
