Tire hieght on the new Rams.

I see my the sigs, that a lot of you have changed the wheels/tires on your newer Rams.

I have a new 2001 3500 on order and my dealer says you can't change the tire size/hieght due to the on board computer/rpm/mph/trip etc.

How are you changing tire sizes?

On my 98. 5 I installed 285, stock back then was 245.

Looks a lot better witht the bigger sneakers.

I went with 285 mudders also, but I found out the hard way that I was traveling 5 mph faster than what I was indicating. (highway p-troll)

My 2001 had the 265's stock, but I quickly changed to 285's. The tire shop said to figure about 5mph. . as was mentioned in the previous post. I haven't changed any chips or anything... not sure if they're available. I'll be interested to see what a others have to say.

You need an Abbott Speedometer Recalibrator. I think JRE has them on their site.

What is the address of the JRE website?
is the calibrator for the antilock speed sensor for the spedometer? is there a way to change the size of the tire on the sensor with the calibrator?

Go to Abbott-tach.com and click on products. It's called a ERA, electronic ratio adapter. It will work for virtually any size tire. JRE is Jannettyracing.com

I JUST PICKED UP A DIFFERENT SPEEDO GEAR FROM THE DEALER, THE AUTO SHIFTS VIA THE SPEED SENSER(SPEEDO). TOOK ABOUT 20-30 MINS. COST ABOUT $10-$12 BUCKS!
