CARB has something GOOD to say about diesel

Just a quickie all:

( I had a dream ) of bigger tires for my 2500 4X4 so I searched for what I needed to get it done. I had my heart set on 315 75R 16's but first I needed more room in the front wheel wells and that's fine because I like a level truck. So I got a 2" daystar spacer worked great it's level. I found a good deal on the tires I wanted and picked them up. I kinda wanted to save a little cash so I had them mounted on the stock rims. looking good so far. Trucks level, the tires I wanted are on, and the kids can still climb in with out a ladder. I take it for a test ride get to the end of the drive way cut the wheels and hear this nasty sound the tires hit the control arms at max turning. "Bummer wasn't expecting that and didn't see it coming". The local off road shop says 1 1/4" spacer for $140 will do the trick but will put more stress on the front suspension parts. Any suggestions

I don't like spacers at all, nor will I use them, but thats just me. There's 2 ways to clear the control arms that I know of, with those tires. One is to get a less back spaced rim, which also means a wider rim. If you go that route you will need a bigger lift, 'cause the tires will hit the fender the way it is now.

The other way is to "cut back" the sterring, which is the way I chose to do it. On the front of the axle, under the tie rod ends, you'll see a hole in the spindle. I took a bolt, nut, a few washers and a 1 1/2"x 1 1/2" piece of steel, and used them to shorten the sterring swing. This in turn, will make your parking spot choices a little more difficult. However I adjusted to it, and for the $2 I have into it, was well worth it.

I along with many others have put that size ties on my rig. It annoyed me at first, but I just drive carefully for now. I however am going to use Rob's solution to the problem... ... . I simply havn't had any time off in order to call him and take advantage of his expertise so far. I have a set of skyjacker D25 springs waiting to be installed when I have time. But you will still need to use Rob's "spindle stops" in order to make it work with stock rims as far as I know. I will let you know how it works for me, but it would be well worth your time to pm him as he has actually done it and had it work for him. JMHO

I haven't had that problem yet with my Dodge, but on all three of my Jeeps I have. I replaced the stop bolt with a slightly longer bolt and have had no trouble since. I didn't even notice any difference in turn circle although I am sure there was some.
