Tire Mileage?

I will be buying (All Terrain), or (Mud Terrain) tires for my truck soon. I wanted to see what kind of mileage you guys are getting from your tires. I am considering BFG ATs, or MTs or GoodYear Workhorse / Wrangler ATS. Just want to see what you run, and what you like... ... .

I only have about 20,000 miles on my BFG AT's but they still look as new as the day I bought them. They have good traction and are also quiet on the road.

Do not get the Pro Comp Mud Terrains, I am getting horrible milage out of them ! I have about 5,000 miles on them and ther are 1/2 way gone ! I'll never buy these tires again !

I went from the OEM Michelin to a BFG 245/75/16 AT (only 20K on them) and was real happy. I got the bug to go bigger and went to a BFG 255/85/16 MT and it looks REAL good. I am somewhat disappointed at the wear I am beginning to see. When these are done I'll go back to the 245s unitl they are finished and then fins the Michelin 265s locally and get my comuter reflashed for the tire change.

I've been running BFG MT's for the last 15 years and siping them the last 8. I get 30-35,000 and try to watch the pressure... . keeping them at 40 psi unless I'm hauling or towing. Its all in preference, but I've seen AT's wear out faster than my MT's, all due to tire pressure.

I average 30,000 miles per year as a daily driver and for my road trips once in a while. I had good results with BFG MTs and ATs under my old 85 Toyota 4WD but it didn't have any weight to it.

I had just over 55,000 on the Michelins until I suffered a opuncture that was too much to plug. I couldn't find a Michelin retailers that had the 265s I wanted in stock. All dealers would order but they were nearly $200 each. I was running on my spare and was a long way from home when I needed to do something.

I agree that air pressure and rotations are very importatnt to tire life. I am running 45 in the front and 40 psi in the rear with the 255s. I also rotated them today when I changed the oil.

Does Michelin carry an aggressive tread in a 285/75? I like the mileage your quoting, if I can get a good mud tire. I do a fair amount of off roading in the fall and winter here, so I prefer to have a tire that will do it all.

Got 60,000 out of the stock Michelin 245-75-R16 Load Range "E"



That made it easy to decide to put Michelin 265-75-R16 Load Range "E" on as replacements...



Even the "Tire Guy" was pleasantly Suprised at the milage I got!



I'm now an official Michelin fan!!

I have 40K on the BFG A/T KO's that are on the truck right now, and they have about 20% left. I am more than happy, considering that some of those miles have been pretty hard miles. I will probably replace them this winter, but with a little more conservative driving gettting over 50K out of a set would not be too hard.

I get about 37K on BFG AT KO's 285/75/16 on my work truck. It is hauling a load 90% of the time and I have beefed up the power considerably. I have chunked up the tread pretty bad hauling my tractor up hill on bad dirt roads. I rotate the tires every 4K since I am so hard on them and they are on a 4X4. Because of the loads, I run max pressure in the rear (65psi) and about 55psi in the front. Tire wear is real even.

My wifes CTD is 2WD and has 265/85/16 BFG AT KOs. She got 60K+ on the BFGs on her truck. It doesn't see near the hard wear as mine. Tire pressure on hers is 50psi front and 45psi rear. I rotate her tires every 5 to 6K miles. Hers is the run around vehicle and rarely sees any load.

Michelin Sizes

I went to the Michelin site and to see if they carry aggressive patterns in larger sizes. I did not spend a lot of time there, but the answer to our search appears to be NO. The largest tire I could find listed was the 265/75/16 LRE in the LTX MS and AS. I know the Bill Swails, owner of EarthRoamer, put a military pattern Michelin on his truck but it was only rated for 55 MPH and very heavy as well.

I'm with you next time around. I had over 55,000 on my OEM 245 LTX MS tires and still had about 1/4" left on them. I have just about decided to put my Eagle wheels and BFG MTs up for sale while I am at Deisel Extravaganza. If I sell them I put my OEM tire/wheels back on.

I have the BFG AT 33" 9. 75x 12. 5's and I have 26k on them right now and I have over half left as far as tread. The last time I rotated them, Schwab told me I was on track for a good 60k.



When I bought my tires I saw a fello CTD owner looking for tires, and we got to talking and he pointed out his truck and said "that truck there has 85k on it and there still the OEM michelens" So I thought this guy was BSing me so I went out and looked. He had 85k on the truck and the tires were pretty worn but still actually had a bit of life to them. Thought that was interesting.

I have BFG 35" AT's on my truck, I like them alot, I ran them on my chevy also. As far as milage, it depends on the road surface, I'm origanally from New England where tires will last 25-30K miles, Down here in S. FLA the roads are course and will ware down a set of tires 17-20k mile if your lucky.
