I'm in the same boat. Nice tire but I will downsize on the next set. My truck is a 2500 HD 4X4 with the camper special package, but not a snow plow package. The 305's hit the lower suspension arm on lock to lock turns. The tire hit ever so slightly that I accepted the fact when they were installed.

Due to the larger size tire I went to a 70 series tire instead of a 75 series like the stock tire, attempting to control the amount of tire height increase over the stock tires.

I was concerned with the rear of the front fender clearing the 305 tire. I would have to look at the 315 tire, but I just don't know how I could go that large in my fender.

Eric, no one's answered your question on tire sizes yet:-laf Check out this web site http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html. I go there lots when I start day dreaming about new tire sizes.

When I bought my truck I immediately swapped the 265/75's for 235/85 load range E. They were the same height, just narrower. They fit just fine on the stock 16x8 aluminum rims, but they didn't look as good on after market steel rims. I later swapped them for a set of 285/75 load range D. They're an inch or so taller, and quit a bit wider. My truck rode better but didn't handle as well. My next tires will be 255/85's. I just prefer a skinnier tire for ice, snow and milage.

My truck came stock with 245/75/R16. The looked ridiculous.

I replaced them with a set of 265/75/R16. The looked better, dropped the low end power a bit (3. 54 gears). When those wore out I replaced them with 235/85/R16. These are the same height as the 265's, but a little narrower. The off road handling in snow and mud is much improved with the narrower tires.

My latest set are the Toyo M55's. I am really impressed with this tire. Pretty quiet on the highway, but offer very good traction. They also offer a 3-ply sidewall for those of you that tow heavy.

I believe Toyo makes these in a 255/85/R16 now, but I don't think they are 10 ply.
