Tire replacement

My 2020 3500 mostly tows and does a decent amount of miles on gravel roads. I am in SW Saskatchewan where we do get winter. I only put 10,000-15,000 kms or 6,000-9,000 miles per year on. The factory Firestones are terrible for traction and don’t wear well. Any tire suggestions?

I used to run Toyo M-55 but they aren’t good in winter nor are they affordable anymore. Cooper S/T Maxx or Good Year Dura-trac seeem to hold up well but who knows about availability nowadays. I’ll probably buy tires and store them until I need them to be sure of availability.

I’ve been really liking the Cooper AT3 and it has a 60K warranty. Mine held up daily well for lots of dirt road towing as I got 35K miles out of them and then a fair amount back on warranty. I’ll be getting them again when the ‘22’s OEM tires wear out.

Cooper also has a new M/T with a mileage warranty if you wanted something more aggressive, the Rugged Trek.

No TP in storage. Tires if you are specific/fussy can be tough to come by. Put 4 new tires on the rear of my triable drop deck and I was told I’d better take them as they had only 4. Put tires on the rear of my 4450 if I had wanted Firestone there was only 2 in the system. Just put 6 11R24.5 on my grain trailer. Price goes up on next shipment….tough to get certain sizes of implement tires. Not fun. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. If a tire fails I don’t have to wait just toss them on. I have plenty of tires mounted on rims for my equipment so I have little downtime. We are low on TP though….

General ATx is a decent tire comparable with the Cooper AT3. Depending on size has up to a 60K mile warranty also. Is 3 peak rated also.

BFG KO2s are great, on my second set. They are "snow rated". I get 30,000 miles out of a set of those. Could probably squeeze out 35,000 but we drive mountain passes on our trips so I always change a little early on truck tires.

Tires have been extremely hard to get for the past year. I have a list that my distributor goes through twice a week. If they have anything that’s on the list, I grab them. We normally run retread drives on the buses but they haven’t been able to get tread several times. The only 255/70R22.5 drives we’ve been able to get are new Continentals.

I have Nokians on 3 vehicles ( suv’s )and like them they are winter rated , run quiet. My mechanic that mounted them said they looked very true & didn’t take much weight to balance ( he has a very high end road force balancer)

I'll second the Cooper AT3 XLT's . So far like them much better than the previous set of Toyo At2's . Quiet ,and handle well .
