I am in search of a good set of semi agressive tires for my American Racing Mojave wheel's which are 17'. I had the Mickey Thompson MTZ, but they didn't last to long. I'm thinking an all terrain somewhere around 33x12. 50 or 305. I have Nitto Terra grappler's on my factory wheel's for the winter but don't know how they would look! I need to see some pic's of what everyone is running and how they like them. I can't decide and I'd like something that's gonna last a little longer that look's good. I liked the look of the MTZ, just wore out way to fast! Thank's for any pic's and suggestion's.

I've been running the Toyo M/Ts. My first set of 35's went 45k miles, and were completely shot. I'm now running the same tire in a 37".

The tires have very low road noise, great dry/wet road traction, great snow traction, and pretty good mud traction (although they don't shed red clay very well). The side walls are so stout that you can air down pretty low as well. I believe the 37's are rated to 4,xxx lbs per tire?

I like the Toyo M/T's but I heard they wear quick! Anybody have experience w/ the procomp extreme A/T. I think they advertise a 40k mile tread warranty. Any more pic's/suggestion's are more than welcome. I appreciate it!

I ran 285 Toyo MT on my stock wheels, I also got about 45,000 miles out of them. I just switched to a set of 285 Toyo AT's on my 17" wheels, but only 3,000 miles on them. I am hoping the wear as good as the MT's did.

I had a set of the Toyo Open Country AT 285/70/17's on my truck, for the last 14 months, and have got 14k miles out of them and am in need of new tires. I did a lot of towing last summer (landscape/Sod/hardscape type stuff) and had the truck loaded up to 26. 5k quite a few times (with proper air pressures at all times - regligiously).

These tires were a good tire, but I don't think they can take all the work I threw at them. They also had a bit of a swaying (wagging) to them when you rocked the truck back and forth with the stering wheel, that the stockers didn't have, I noticed this 5 minutes after they were installed. I verified this because I have two identical trucks, one that still has the stock BFG Rugged Trails on it - and it does not do this.

I feel they are a softer compound and that is why the wore so quickly. Sure I saved $260 ($65 each), over the BFG AT's, but with the wear characteristics, I ended up loosing money in the long run.

I have always been hard on tires, and I know this. I got 22k out of the stock BFG Rugged Trails, and on my 2nd GEN gasser I got about 30K out of each of 4 sets of BFG AT's.

So I know how I wear tires, I'll never get the long 40 or 50K life some others here, report from the Toyo's or the BFG AT's, but getting double the life out of a tire (BFG AT vs. Toyo) that costs 21% more, makes good sense in my book.

But we also have a limited choice of tires with the E rating in the 285 size(not trying to start a E vs. D debate here). I choose to stick with the E rating last tire chage, but may forego that this time. I am looking for a good tire that will give *me* acceptable wear with *my* driving/towing style.

I had Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO's on my 02 gasser. I only had the truck another 4 months before I sold it but I was very happy with those tires. I didn't tow but I had a hard time getting them to break loose even on wet pavement.

Not trying to go against the grain here but my buddy had Dueler A/Ts on his '95 regular cab 2500 CTD and they sucked? I don't remember how many miles he got out of them but it wasn't many, they disapeared really fast.

I've had BFG ATs and was happy with the performance of them, they were quiet, worked well in the snow and they lasted about 30kmiles. I'm pretty sure they come in the sizes you're looking for.

I have Toyo M55s right now and am really impressed with them. They need to be replaced right now but have around 50kmiles on them which is impressive to me. They are noisy on the highway but I have a good stereo :-laf. Don't think you can get M55s in your size though.

Does anyone know what a 305/65/17 is equivalent to? Is it a 33x12. 50 or narrower, I've seen 305/70, 305/60... ... does it go according to rim size and sidewall or how does that sizing work? Anyway's, I was just looking at Mickey T. ATZ and they only offer it as 305/65/17. I was originally going to get those before the MTZ's but they didn't have the size I wanted, and I still would like to try them. Also Pro comp XAT. That or a mud terrain again, I don't know. I just can't decide. I do wan't a good "tough" looking tire that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that wear's somewhat good! I rarely pull anything. My truck is basically used for commuting to and from work! I'm all for any pic's. :D Thank's so far for the help!

Nauidvr1, it would be expensive, but if your that hard on tires, maybe you wanna look into a set of 19. 5" wheels and tires. that would bump you up to atleast a load range G. I've been researching the Rickson wheels and possibly a set of 245/70 or 265/70 tires to go with them, mainly just for the increase tread life. Many guys have reported getting atleast 100,000 miles out of their tires all while towing as heavy as you do. They say the stability of the truck, especially while towing or hauling is much better than with a E load range tire. I really never haul or tow anything, like I said, I just gave them some thought just for the increase tread life.

AFoulk,

I breifly thought about 19. 5's but the cost to upgrade rims and tires it just to steep. Also, I am not sure if you can get an AT style tire for that size. I really like the "mean" look of AT tires, and I thought that you can only get a highway style tread in the 19. 5's.

I just put a set of ProComp 305/65-17's on my truck. I've heard a lot of good things about them. I replaced a set of A/T Revo's, I got about 20K miles out them and they were gone! They look great on stock alloy rims, no rubbing.

Did you buy an A/T or M/T? What did they cost? I'm thinking of going w/ the Procomp XAT, they are listed around $217. a tire! Maybe there's a better deal than that, but that's what I'm seeing.
