Tire Size 265-70-17 BFG's Plus One Size?

Is there any benefit of going up one size on the tires? I am ready to buy new ones and my factory BFG's done really well... give me some help here.

Going to a bigger tire will have the effect of changing differential ratios. In the case of my truck that would cause the engine to lug while towing. Bigger tires also usually result in more rolling resistance which decreases fuel mileage. There is also the hassle of reprogramming your computer to correct the speedo. I'm not saying there won't be a benefit however. There very well could be. Just throwing the considerations out there.

I went to 285 toyo's and I would say that if your towing heavy (more than 9k) at all, don't do it. I find myself in 5th gear a lot now and have to be carefull not to lug in 6th. Of course if you add tons of power it would negate the loss but that comes at other costs of course.

I changed my 245's for 265's on my old truck and it cost me 1. 5 mpg.

Mark31 I just wanted to see if there was anything better than what I already had... looks like I will go back with the BFG's in the orignal size. Thanks for all the replies.

Rbellah: I'm at the end of my 2nd repl. set of Michelin 265/70 R17's @ 184K miles. Most impressive service IMHO. We've RV'd for 6th year now with a GCVW of 21+K#, and have tires rotated annually along with transmission service. There's plenty of tread for running around town, but 5/32nds is minimum hwy tread for me. That's my experience not a sales pitch.

My rear axle load seems to be "increasing" slightly & I'm starting to see outside tread wear. I've increased air pressure to 90psig this season to bump up the 3195# @ 80psig tire capacity. I'm now considering the option of Nitto Dura Grappler P/N 205-370 due to their advertised 3970# load rating.
