Needed new tires so I thought I would try for the first time Firestone.

I asked the salesman what the biggest tire that would fit on my rims (16X8. 0 Forged Aluminum). He recomended Firestone Destination A/T's size LT305/70R16. After they installed the tires it seemed fine. After a couple of weeks I noticed that when I turned the wheel hard left it sounds like the tires rubbing... I looked but I can't see where it's rubbing. Any ideas???

Second question is they put the balancing weights on the outside of the rims... I asked them why and they said to get an accurate balance it must be on both sides... Is this correct? It looks like crap on my Forged Aluminum rims...

Thanks

I balance tires at my work and the best balance is putting the weights to both inside and outside. You can still get a good balance with tape weights just behind the face of the wheel.

I had bad luck for some reason with the innovative beads. Sometimes they ran smooth and other times not but mostly not. I went back to a static balance and it's been fine since. I know you get a better balance with the weights on the outside/inside of the rim but I hate to mess up my nice alloy wheels plus the weights kept flying off and it looks bad so I now have them use the stick on weights and it's been working great. I have about 91k on my current set of Michelin LTX M/S tires so far running over the road transporting RVs. I'm hoping to get 100k or more out of them. I have had only one re-balance.

Yup. Everyone I've talked to... about 10 people, have said the same about the beads. I have them in my Jeep and that's what it does, but I just thought it was the big Swampers.
