Competition Stacking a redline with an edge drag comp ?

Competition New Sled Pulling truck

What causes problems with the drivetrain when pulling, too big of a tire or too tall of a gear? Right now I have both (35" tires and 3. 55 gears).

I'm thinking of stepping down to a 33" tire or swapping to 4:10 gears and keeping the 35" tires. Opinions?

I've got a 3rd gen transfer case to install and need to upgrade the rear driveshaft. I also plan on an ARB for the rear, can I stick with the stock axle shafts?

And before anyone asks, I'm not going to pull with the FE clutch ;)

Not to mention if I get 33's they will be E rated instead of my D rated 315's (hummer takeoff's).

jwilliams3, what is your opinion of a 3850 CB clutch vs. the 3850 FB or iron giant? I daily drive my truck and will maybe see 10 pulls a year. Unless the addiction continues:-laf

How streetable are these clutches? Do you drive yours everyday?

Good question. I've got everything in my signature plus a hrvp44 ready to install. I would say around 600 HP. I plan on having it dyno'd after I get off my butt and install the hotrod pump. The problem is, at the rate I'm going, bigger injectors may be just down the road?

My first post has most of the stuff listed in it, I've got the dodgezilla and B2 twins (powerbypoole) with Mach 4 injectors, smarty, drag comp, and soon to have installed HRVP44.

Understood, however Mach 4's were close to the limit of my stock HO pump, so the next upgrade was to a HRVP44. Like I said above, bigger sticks are down the road. The same questions still apply... Opinions on dual disk clutches? Will 3. 55 gears and 33" tires be ok?

Using my calculator, staying with 3. 55 gears, in 4th gear low range, my 315 tires put me at 25 mph at 3400 rpm, where the 285 tires would put me at 24 mph. Not a whole lot of difference in speed, but less stress on the drivetrain and less of a chance of bouncing...

last time i had it in 4lo 4th gear it ran to about 32mph @ 3400rpm with 285's. call it 30 since the speedo it off 2 mph. are you sure you calculator is right?

With 4 Lo is probably safer with the 315's...

But with the twins and some bigger injectors I wouldnt hesitate to run 2nd hi.
