Do any of you drag racers know of anything that will soften a tires compound,I compete in tug of war, which is two trucks hooked together on concrete, and i have tried most over the counter products to get the tires softer to hook up better. Any comments would be appreciated.

VHT will have that effect after awhile, at least on street radials. My dad used to use some stuff called Traction IV i think, its been awhile(sh*t smells like pepto bismol). I recall it working but not ro sure. What tires are you running?? Might try a rock crawling tire, most of those are softer than drag slicks.

Check with Mickey Thompson, or Hoosier I beleive they still make a "Cheater Slicks" for street use.
It's DOT approved, and has about two or three grooves.

I have the answer for your traction problems - properly set up ladder bars. I worked with a guy to develop these and we are now selling them. I am the supplier for these so keep in mind that I am biased. Check out this post from a satisfied customer - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum3/HTML/003512.html and my original post just after installing them - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum3/HTML/002554.html . I am getting so much traction on my rear tires that with 380+ hp I'm not able to do a burnout on dry pavement (I have witnesses)!!! When I launch the truck at 1800 rpm all I get is a chirp from the tires, the bed raises from the tires (planting them to the ground) and I'm GONE! One warning though - I am ripping the corners off of lugs on my BFG AT's on the rears at the dragstrip. I need a couple extra wheels to put some street tires on (with no siping). Given your usage you may need to go to bead locks or at least grade 8 bolt drilled into the tires (poor mans beadlocks) to keep from spinning the tires on the rims.
