Hey guys(& gals?),

New member here and I was wondering if I could "tap" the pool of wisdom with my current ambition. I have picked up some Eagle 114s in 17x10 and looking for a new tire to put on those bad boys. I have an 03 QC 4x4 and I am considering anything in the 33-35in realm. So far it is slim pickens. Any suggestions?

Also, do you think the 35s are going to rub? If so, I will likely go with the Daystar leveling kit.

I appreciate any and all help. Thanks.

LOL, tons of threads to look through. As many have suggested in the past, try a search for your question, more times than not, you will have more post than you can read through. I just put a set of 35X12. 50X17 Cooper Discoverer S/T's on my truck on the stock rims. I don't know what the offset is of your Eagle rims, but that will effect if they rub the control arms, or the fenders. I get a little rubbing on my control arms, but not bad at all. My tire dealer was good enough to mount up two different sizes (one on each front rim) and let me see how they looked on the truck and address any rubbing issues before I made my decision. I have some pics in my gallery. Oh, and welcome aboard. I'm fairly new here myself, and have learned more than I thought I would.

I have the LT33x12. 50R17 Mastercraft Courser C/T's on stock alloys..... I think the 17x10 wheels could possibly give you some issues with rubbing on the 33's or the 35's. When factoring in the wider wheels coupled with the wrong offset, potential rubbing will probably occur. As a sidenote, you may want to look into purchasing some extended flares for some protection from flying objects from your tires. NLamke is correct your search button is a great friend !

Either of you guys use a leveling kit? I am thinking that may alleviate some of the potential rubbing.

As for the Eagle rims, I ordered the them for/to Dodge specs but have not put them on. I think the only true test will be trial and see(error).

Also, with the new rims I am looking at the bushwhacker extend-a-fender flares for my truck - just want to make sure the rims and bigger tires are going to work before I get the flares.

I appreciate all the advice... keep it coming! :-laf

Check the offset on those, if you found a 10" rim with the correct offset you would be the first on here to do so!! My guess is they will stick out 1 to 2 inches past the fenders. Some guys like the look and put flares on to cover it, others don't care for it much, to each his own!!

The rims list as 17x10, pattern 8 x 6. 5 with -20 mm offset and 4. 65 bsm.

I like the fender flare look myself so the tires sticking out a bit isn't a concern.

I have eagle alloys 17x9 with same backspacing as yours. I also have a 2" leveling kit. The 33's will fit and not rub. The 35's will catch the back corner of the fender well (sheetmetal) , especially with a rim that is another inch wider. I tried both sizes of BFG AT's on my truck.

You might check out my ride to see what it all will look like with 33's and fender flares.

DJennings... that is a sweet looking ride.

I am more curious now b/c a friend of a friend put 35s on his 03 QC using the stock wheel and no lift and gets very minimal rubbing. I am getting the impression that this is going to be a trial and error thing.

How do you like those Eagle Alloys? Did you get super finish or chrome?

I didn't have a leveling kit in mine at first. The pictures in my gallery are of the stock suspension. I have since added a leveling kit and molded splash guards. I have to wait for a nice day to wash my truck and take some updated pics. I have less rubbing with the leveling kit however.

With the stock wheels you can do 35's with no rub on the body. Because the Eagles sit out another 3-4 inches (wider and less backspacing), 35's will catch the back bottom corner of the fender. With stock wheels the tire turns inside the fender and won't touch.

If the store that is mounting the wheels has both sizes for you to try, its worth checking out, but I can almost guarantee the 35's will rub. I think you need a minimum of 4" lift to run 35's on 17 x 9/10 with 4. 6 backspacing to prevent rubbing.

My wheels aren't chromed, just regular old polished alloy wheels, and I like em alot.

If I were you I would look into the Interco Truxus MT's. My friend has 33's in his dodge and is getting 50,000 or so miles on them. They are great on the road very quiet and good in Snow/Rain and in all offroad conditions. Also they are cheaper to purchase then most other MT's.

re:Interco's

Are they round? I had Interco TSL's on one of my previous rides . They were out of round by as much as 3/4 inch (They were 38" tires though). Hopefully the Trxus is an improved tire, but I have not had any good experiences with Interco tires. I'm not trying to be rude, just have a sore spot with Interco.

Under normal driving conditions you will get 50k out of a BFG AT, plus a tire that has stiffer sidewall and handles better. I have run BFG's up to 35" on almost every truck I have owned. Always round, minimal weight to balance, and ran forever.

Here Is A Great Tool

GO HERE

Check out the -- Off-Road All-Terrain and the Off-Road Maximum Traction

These are real life results that greatly influenced my decision on tires for my truck FIRESTONE DESTINATION M/T 287/75/16 (2ND GEN)

The tires are great

My next set will be the all Terrain winner --- REVO's

This way I will know what type of tire is best for me MT/AT I love the look of the MT but the Miles and ride and handling of the AT the good thing for people like me is the newer AT's have a MT look to them so That will be the way I go next time around.

DM,

All good choices, but unfortunately none are listed larger than a 265/275 in 17" rim (minimum rim size on 3rd gen). And the 275 was a C rated tire. I'm sure they will get in on the 17" boom soon.

they are perfectly round. You can't compare other Interco Tires to the Truxus MT's. These are a very sound Tire. They are great when you are towing stuff also. I have liked them better then the BFG MT, and the Goodyear MTR's, plus the price is right. And most of them are 10 ply tires. Here is the Link to the site. Truxus MT's

RH,

I will say, I don't tow much so load rating is not as much of a concern.

Anyway, you drive your tires I'll drive mine and we'll both be happy. I will agree on the MT/R. Good tread for what it's designed for, but wears pretty quick.

I drive an AT tire, because my miles are almost all on the road, with midwest winters in the mix. The BFG AT is a great snow tire. Smaller lugs and tons of siping, it gets amazing grip. An AT tire will normally yield slightly better mileage with reduced friction, and since I drive 40-50k a year, I can use all the help I can get in mpg game (I still gotta have some tread, so a highway tire won't really help, but would be the best for mileage).

Thats all I have to say about tire choices, and I am not trying to convince anyone that I am right. I only base my decision from experience running BFG, Goodyear, Interco, Mickey Thomson, General, Michelin, Firestone, and Dick Cepek tires (Now owned by MT).

Besides this thread is more about fitment than tire choices. I have experience with the equipment Razkul99 is installing, so I figured I would give him some advice on that, not so much about his tire choice.

My concern with Interco would be road noise. I have heard a lot of good stuff about the BFG and Nittos but am undecided when it comes to rubber.

I think I have decided to put a 3" lift on my sweatheart and then put 35in tires on my new rims.

Any suggestions?

On paper the Interco looks lgreat, I also wonder about the road noise. i will say it is one of the very few 10 ply (E) tires out there in a larger size. I know the bigger D tires have the weight rating but I'm not sure about the stability having less plys and a larger sidewall.

They are actually pretty Quiet. I was very surprised on how quiet they are.
