Tire Valve Stem Diameter?

Tire valve stems come in a number of different hole diameters. Anyone know what the diameter is for 3rd gen aluminum wheels? Are the steel wheels a different diameter?

Both the steel and alloy OEM Dodge truck wheels share the same high pressure valve stems... ... ... . they are . 453" in diameter. The same valves are used in the GM and FoMoCo models as well.

Yes! Thanks, Greg! I just went out and measured them, but you posted before I had a chance to answer my own question.

Greg, do you happen to know whether "most" light-duty vehicles are 0. 453" diameter? I get the feeling they are.

When it comes time for new tires I think I'll switch over to bolt-in style. The snap in ones are a real pain to remove.

If you haven't done this, do so !

On a side note, the same diameter valve stems are used in a lot of 15" and 16" trailer wheels as well. The best "mod" I've ever performed on my 2001 16' Gatormade car hauler and my 2007 16+2 Gatormade car hauler is to yank out all five valves and replace them with the high pressure OEM style light truck (100 psi) valves... ... . no more worries about tires deflating over winter time non-use periods. They're also easier to add air as they're stiffer.

FYI, the relevant Napa part number for the OEM-type valves is NTH90442.

The OE stem I just removed is a Schrader TR-600, US-made. Note that TR-600 is a standard trade number, not a specific part number.
