It seems that my doors lock automatically sometime after i exit my 03 3500 the dealer tells me they can find nothing "wrong" , anybody else have this problem? thanks james

hmmmm

Well, the first day I drove my 06 Laramie to work I managed to lock myself out- you see, I always leave the keys in my truck on jobsites. I took the key out of the ignition partway (so the dinger wouldnt ding) and somehow the doors locked themselves before I closed the drivers door . Fortunately I did not shut the door all the way to the fully latched position and was able to use a hangar wire to pull the rubber knob up (without damage to the weather stripping).

I still don't know how the door locked itself- I was really worried the first time I took her to a car wash- you have to leave the key in the ignition so the wash monkeys can pull her outta the wash track- I thought she might lock herself automatically inside the machine!!

Anybody know if the truck computer has a condition in addition to the 15MPH auto lock where it'll lock itself???

Since the door lock switch pulls in toward the driver to lock i wonder if you had a really sensitive switch and slammed the door if that might be doing it.

I have never had a problem with my '03. I have set off the panic button in my pocket when I bent over to pick something up. That gets your attention!!

I have a habit to either leave the key in the switch, or drop it in the area by the 4x4 shifter..... in the boot..... but I always carry the locking fob in my pocket... .

When I travel... I'll jump out to do something and let the truck run. . either with the heater running or the AC based on where I'm at... . sometimes it sits and idles 45 min to 1 hour..... its locked and the fob is in my pocket.....

As I walk away I lock it. . when I walk back to it I unlock it... .

BTW - If they wish to break a window and steal the truck with the work trailer attached, I'd let them.....

My 04. 5 does self lock without pushing the button.

I just made a home depot key and hit it under the rear bumper for the "oh SOB moments".

I like it, because I forget to lock it sometimes.

Have a Dealer Program the Locking system from Active to Passive, and the Doors will need to be lock manually.

Check your owners manual, there is a procedure to do this yourself. I did it when I first got my 03 because I was tired of walking to the other side of the truck to retrieve something out of the back seat only to be locked out.
