Ordered Saturday and the dealer said the truck would be on his lot in FOUR WEEKS :p Claimed the allocation for this dealer wasn't used yet for September so the truck would be fast. What do you guys think? Is it likely? Also have done a little looking for 18 in. wheels an tires and I am hearing $2500 to $3000. Sounds high, have any of you guys bought 18's yet and how much and where? Thanks, Doc

I think your dealer's on crack! Back in mid August, I heard that any order taken at that time would have a October build date. I ordered on 9/4 and have a build week of Oct week 2. Plus some it seems some trucks take 4 weeks just for delivery. My feeling is that the only way you'll get something new in 4 weeks is if the dealer already had a vehicle that they ordered before that meets your exact specs. BTW, here's how the build process works, in laymans terms.

1. Order received.

2. Goes thru edit.

3. Parts availability

4. All parts available.

5. Aquired all parts, scheduled for build.

6. The rest plus shipping.

So you see, even if your dealer had allocation, if a part you wanted like the protection group or LSD is not available, they can't build. If you want better detail on the process, take a look at http://www.dodgeram.org/buying_info/Order_status.htm .

My order is on D1 status.

Doc, I have a beautiful set of Weld Monsoon 18x8. 5" in my garage collecting dust. Would love to put them on mine but they stick out too far and would look goofy on a 2-wheel drive. They might be OK on a lifted 4x4 with big tires and big fender flares.

Last I knew there wasn't anyone out there making 18" wheels or larger matching Dodge's deep deep deep 6" backspacing and +40mm offset. Dodge went with this starting with 2000 model. It's been awhile since I looked tho. I've pretty much decided if I upgrade from stock I'll go with Rickson's aluminum 19. 5 inchers and real truck tires :)

Just for info, I ordered my 04 3500 SRW LB 4x4 on Sep 5. Got a build date within 3 days. Showed that it shipped on 09-25 with an expected delivery in 10 days. We'll see if that holds true on Oct 5. Also ordered Laramie w/ all bells and whistles including the protection group, and it supposedly never held up the order.

Got Truck?

Here's my baby's ETA. I ordered 8-21.

18 " Wheels on 03

Vaughn, I seen a 4x4 w/o flares and some sweet 18's. The wheels didn't stick out past the fenders and looked great. Dealer said his cost was $ 2800! ouch!
