Okay, my apolgies, I know this issue has been run around before. It's time for new tires, does anyone have experience with Yokohamas, Bridgestone, Michelin, Toyos, etc. I currently have the Toyo M55 tire from Les Schwab, I hate 'em, they won't balance and a little noisy. The Yokohamas are the cheapest, Bridgestones next, then the Mechelins and Toyos. All are an E rated tire, and called a All terrain tire with good rain grooves and such. Just looking for guidance on what to avoid. As for use, daily freeway, and 10 to 12 camping trips a year towing the 30' tt.

I have used Michelin LTX MS tires on a couple trucks... they last really well, ride well, and were acceptable for traction on and off highway. Have also run Pirelli tires, I wouldnt use them for dock protectors at this point, crappy on road, absolutely useless off road and poor in rain. I run michelin XPS on the front of my '99 and Cooper ATRs on the rear, and cooper ATRs all the way around on the '00 but most of my driving is off highway on gravel/dirt roads.

are the Cooper ATR's an all terrain, do they have good rain grooves, or are they more like the BFGoodrich tires that don't have any rain grooves? Other than those, I am leaning toward the Michelin's

Michelins do last forever, but they are pricey. I currently have about 30k on a set of the cooper ATRs with at least half the tread left. They are great in mud and snow. Thry spin a little easy on wet roads due to the hard compound for mileage. The only downside to me is they are bad for catching and throwing rocks. Good mudflaps seem to take care of that.

DSeamans, your truck is very similar to mine, how does the 62/14 hybrid work for you. I tow a 30' travel trailer a few times a year and have to wath the EGT's with just the stock turbo, I've been wanting to discuss the hybrid with someone who has one in the same truck. I am also limited by the Pac-Brake so a hybrid is one of my only choices.

I'm currently running Pro Comp Extreme A/T's. I don't have anything at all negative to say about them. I bought them used with 1200 miles on them so I didn't get the 40K mile treadwear warranty, but they seem to be wearing well despite at least one burnout session every time I get to go somewhere without my wife in the truck with me. I'm running them with Centramatic wheel balancers. I have some of the normal 2nd Gen front tire feathering, but not too much. Wear pattern does not show balance to be a problem. They are louder than a BFG A/T KO, but not much louder and not nearly enough to drown out the engine. Wet traction hasn't been a problem. I've got a little mud and dirt time. Performance was exactly what you would expect from an all terrain tire. Maybe next time I'll find some used M/T's.

thanks for all the info guys, I actually found a real good deal on some 100 mile take offs from a 2008 mega cab. Tires and aluminum wheels for $500, couldn't pass it up.

Day late and a dollar short on this end, very good deal on the tires and alloys. I run 295 BFG A/T; like the performance of square shoulder tires off-road. :)
