I will be in the market shortley for new tires. I have the Goodyears and except for the sidewall cracks, they have worn well. 42k with about 10k or so left. Many miles have been with a heavy camper on.

1st, could I go 1 size bigger (245's) on the stock rim without worrying about the duals rubbing. I will be carrying a 5k lb camper.

I would like a little more aggresive tread, have seen a few Nitto's that look nice, but would they be rated to carry the weight.

We replaced the Goodyears on my parents 03 dually with Michelin LTX M/S in the same size. Very good tire, required very little weight to balance. My Goodyears have 25k on them. Noticed cracks forming last time I rotated them, so I will probably be getting Michelins soon. As far as a biggger tire, im not sure. You should try a search, this topic has been discussed a few times.

Goodyear replaced my tires at 4000 miles then again at 12000 miles with the side wall cracks at no charge. At the 12000 mile replacement they agreed to replace them with Buckshot MT at no charge. These tires are 17/265/70 3000 lbs at 65 psi and are the same height as the stock tires. I have a 1/2" clearance on the rears with no spacers. I haul a 5320 John Deer tractor and mower on a 32 ft gn trailer with no rub problems (approx 13,000 lbs).
