Has anyone put these new Nitto Tires on yet? Tires.com carries them if you want to check out pricing.

I'm very tempted to buy the 315's, as soon as they're in stock again. They look like a good tire. One very appealing feature is many of them are E load range tires, even on the bigger sizes. Plus, they're about $30/tire cheaper than BFG's and 315 BFG's are backordered nationwide until who knows when. I'm not bashing BFG's, they're the best tire I've ever had, just exploring other possabilities.

Wish I could afford the 18" rims and their 325/60R18 tire... ... they'd look incredible on my RAM.

Let me know if you have any experience with these tires.

I'm curious about these tires too. Trying to decide between the Interco Truxus or the Nitto. The truxus are a little more aggressive, but everyone says they have excellent road manners.

The Nittos are good looking, but how will they hold up in the real world.

Yeah I saw them in a off-road magazine and they look real nice I was gonna get a set maybe when the michelins wear out I would be interested in hearing about what you find out keep us posted!!!!!!!!!!!!

blampright

I have been waiting for the 325/60R18's to be released for about a month. I have been running the 295/75R/16 BFG's for a while and decided to upgrade my wheels to 18". The only AT's I could find were these from Nitto. I am expecting my to be here within the next two weeks. I hope that I am as happy with them as I have been with the BFG's. I will let you know.

When someone gets these 18" rims, post a pic! I put the 17" Welds on my truck with 37" BFG mudders, and I like the look of the larger wheel.

since the introduction of the new ram with 20's

the 20 inch tires have became more available...

tire = 140 or so

20 inch wheel = 300 a piece

i have seen rams with 20-24 inch wheels, they all look nice... anyone thats interested in sizes that big, let me know

I'm doing it! 18" wheels & Nitto Tires

We'll guys, I don't want to wait any longer for 315/75R16 BFG's or Nitto's to catch up to demand and come off backorder. So, I'm going to take the plunge. I just ordered some American Eagle Series 178 Wheels

and Nitto 325/60R18 tires for my RAM. I'll get a picture up as soon as I get them... ... probably a week or so.

I posted about a month ago about the same wheels, 18 x 9. 5 in chrome. Originally I was thinking of going with the Yokahama AVS tire but I like the looks of the NT-404 in a 275-60-18, I want to stay close to the stock size michelins. Just curious how much were the wheels? did you get polished or chrome?

chrome

As my luck would have it, just like everything else I want, the polished wheels are backordered. I wanted them because they're a lesser price ($180ea). I did find a few online places that claimed to have some polished in stock. After shipping however they were almost as much as I could get the chrome wheels for locally at Discount Tires. So, I ordered the chrome through discount for $230ea. Still not a bad price for an 18" wheel, but more than I wanted to spend. Although after seeing what other places are selling the chrome for, I'm wondering if he quoted me the wrong price on the chrome, it seems a little low. Guess I'll find out when they get them mounted up and stick me with the final bill!!

Does anyone else make an AT tire in 18" besides Nitto?

18" AT's

If someone else makes them I cannot find them either. Everyone tells me that Nitto is the only game in town with 33" for 18" wheels.

Toyo is showing 18's now, 285/60/18, 325/60/18, 325/65/18, and 355/35/18. If you look at the picture, its hard to tell the difference between the Nitto and the Toyo. I'm sure one of them makes it for the other. That sounds like a smokin' price for chrome 18" wheels. I have chrome American Racing Atlas 16X10's right now and they still look new. Get em' wet, wipe em' off and they look better than a brand new polished wheel. A little (or alot) extra cash up front but sure make life easier. ;)

Watch Weight Rating!

Just a word of caution. . . be sure to check the weight rating of any 18 or 20" tire you are looking at. Most everything I've seen is under 2800lbs per tire. . . this new tire from Nitto is about the best I've seen (particularly in the 285/60/18 size). Another tire worth looking at is made by Falken, I was planning to go with Falken until I saw this thread! I am stoked. . . been wishing for more of an A/T tire in an 18" size with a better UTG rating. UTG of 500 is great! (longer treadlife).

I just bought a set of Weld Racing Monsoons that were in the classifieds section but it'll probably be a good 2 weeks before they arrive (plus a wait for $$ to recoup so I can get tires). I am planning on 285/60/18 since it is the closest diameter-wise to my stock 265/75/16s and I don't want wider than 285s on my 2 wheel drive.

I don't know about these specific Nitto tires because I have not tried them. I have put on a few sets on my cars and they have all worked great and wore well. I seem to remember that Nitto's are the #1 brand in Japan. Which in general is a pretty tough market to be in.

GOT THEM - PICTURES

I finally got my 18" Nitto wheels on my RAM. I still don't have my 2. 5" skyjacker lift on, but the wheels still fit just fine. Although they will rub during full turns if you hit a bump, but not bad. They stick out about 2". The Xenon fender flares I bought will fix that.
So far, so good. I love the look of them. They ride really nice and are well balanced. There is more tire noise than stock, but barily noticable. They ride softer than the stock Michelins also. I only have 40psi in them, will probably bump the front up to 50psi.

Update

With a trip to Vegas and a trip to Moab, I now have about 3000 miles on my 18" Nitto tires. So far I have nothing but praise for them.
On Road - My RAM now drives like a sports car! I love mountain driving with these tires. They have zero side wall flex around the sharp mountain corners and give you nothing but confidence when driving fast around corners. I find myself driving my RAM through the mountain passes faster than I used to... ... maybe a little too fast. Hey, it's fun, I can't help it.
Off Road - While in Moab I did the "Top of the World" trail with my RAM. Man, what a bumpy trail. It's a trail rated as intermediate..... probably about a 3 or 3. 5. It was pretty rocky and my sidewalls took some major abuse. I had them aired down to 35 up front and 30 in the rear (on-road I run 50 front, 40 rear). My cousin had his 35" MTR's on his Jeep at 15psi... ... ... I didn't dare go that low with 18" wheels on a heavy truck. The tires offered excellent traction in the loose rocks and slick rock, even when there was sand or rocks on the slick rock. I did scratch one of my rear rims slightly on a rock... ... but it's kind of expected in that type of terrain... ... especially with an 18" rim.
I'll put some new pictures on my site soon of the Moab trip.

Thanks for the report blampright. Minimizing sidewall flex is what I am looking for in going with 18s and I'm glad to hear the Terras perform well here

I have a set of 18" Welds stacked up in my garage waiting for a set which I should have in the next 3-4 weeks. I am kinda tapped right now after spending too much on my truck plus painting my house and other house projects :(

First problem encountered with Nitto's

I ran into a wierd difficulty with my Nitto tires. I've put off having my front end aligned too long (7000 miles). I went to a local Big O tires shop to have them do an alignment today. They called me back a few hours later to tell me they can't do it. They're alignment tools would not fit in the bead of the Nitto tire because there is too much extra rubber there to protect the rim. He tried airing down the tires (like they do with BFG's) and he still couldn't get it to fit.

I'm going to try a couple different shops to see if maybe one of them has a better setup for aligning tires with rim protection built into the tire.

Anyone have any advice? Anyone else encountered this problem?

I know it is a pain and will not give you as good of an alignment as you would get if you were running the same wheels and tires but have you thought about puting back on the stock wheels for the alignment (if you still have them)?
