Tires??

Looking to replace the tires on my 04. 5. Considering the BFG All terrain T/A KO in the stock 265/70/r17 Load Range E size. Anyone had experience or any other recommendations?? Driving mostly pavement with some off road in the summer. Thanks!

I used to run BFG AT KO's. I am now converted to GoodYear Wrangler Silent Armor's. I have 70k miles on them now, never got over 50k on BFG's. They seem more durable off road, better in rain and snow too.

A few months ago, I had a set of MIchelin LTX a/t2 265-70-17 mounted and balanced on the stock forged aluminum rims. My local tire guy commented that he only had to use 2 weights on the whole set to balance them. The tires run quietly, and the truck handles great. I drove through snow for a week in Tahoe and had absolutely no problems with them, though I know that many people say that Michelins s**k in the snow. I also drove in alot of winter rain (well alot for CA) on terribly maintained roads and they always maintained traction, and I don't necessarily drive slowly either. (Why own an expensive, 7200# sports car if you can't drive fast?) I havew always been a Michelin man, and if I can get 40k out of these tires I will be happy. The only other tire I that I had considered was the Toyo open country in a 285/75/17r.

I know I'll hear screams of disbelief, but I just swapped out my original Michelins for another set, 90,700 miles. Still had enough tread to drive, but I'm coming up on my busy season and didn't want to mess with it any later than this. Also just got an Air Dog fuel pump, I feel right lucky to have gotten the 90 thou on the original. I do drive like a grandpa, which I am recently. I'm sure not in love with the French, but it's hard to argue with that performance. Real good tires in rain.

I have had a set of the mich at2's in the stock size since last fall and I think they are fantastic. Not cheap. Great in snow and rain. I don't do mud.

Don't count out the bridgestone dueller revo's good tire in stock size and quiet.

I'd vote for the Revo's also. I have 50K on mine and they have another 10K left. Best tire I've ever had in the rain. Not much noise either.

I like the pro comps I have got close to 40 on them and better than 1/2 tread and I am not easy on them I pull on and off graval roads and I have a very heavy right foot. stock size and e rateing

I really like the BFG A/T's but the 265 is just too small for me. I like the looks and the lower RPM's of a 285 - 315 tire.

Toyo M55, had them on since last Sept. no issues. Great snow traction, fine on the pavement. After 15000 kilometers little to no wear.

For someone who does the majority of their driving on the pavement and avoids prolonged driving in snow the OEM style Michelins that you have been running are outstanding for noise, treadlife (wear), quality,and reliability. Keep your eyes open at the local tire stores for these tires that are almost new when someone changes their Dodge to larger or more agressive tires. My friend just grabbed a set of four Michelin AT 265/75/17 with less than 1000 miles on them from the local tire shop for $200! Also try the TDR classifieds.

Check out the Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 285/70/17 E ..... I just installed them on my 3500... . looks good so far... . the previous OEM BFG tires ran 67K... . a bit of wander in teh tires, however I suspect this will diminish with age.

Goodyear Silent Armors get my vote... I have them on my '01.



The '04 I'm going to pick up this weekend has Nittos... . don't know Richard about them.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Ended up going with Michelin A/S tires. Local dealer had them for $205 brand new installed. Like them so far and since it is mainly a pavement mule, think they will work out pretty good. Thanks again for all the input! Much appreciated.

I love my Cooper S/T tires. Very deep tread and no road noise. Very impressive in the snow, rain and dry pavement. This is my vote.
